Plans abandoned for controversial Ridge Pre-K site, says mayor
Plans to site a Universal Pre-K program at the busy corner of 86th Street and Gatling Place will not move forward, according to Mayor Bill de Blasio.
The mayor, at a Tuesday, February 16 town hall meeting held in Bay Ridge, said that plans for the proposed 108-seat school at 621 86th Street have been nixed due to community concern.
“There has been a specific concern raised about a potential Pre-K site at 621 86th street,” said de Blasio from the Fort Hamilton High School gymnasium. “I am here today to announce that we will not use that site.”
