Between Wednesday, February 4 and Monday, February 8, the 72nd Precinct received reports of two robberies, two assaults, one grand larceny and one incident of criminal mischief. The 72nd Precinct serves Sunset Park, Greenwood Heights and South Park Slope.

A 30-year-old Hispanic man was held at knifepoint on Wednesday, February 4. Cops say the victim was near Fourth Avenue and 56th Street at approximately 4:25 a.m. when a man approached him, showed off the weapon and told him in Spanish to give him everything he had. The victim handed over his smartphone, worth $200. Once he had the goods, the suspect fled eastbound on 56th Street towards Fifth Avenue. He was then seen getting in a dark sedan on 56th Street and driving away.

Cops say an unknown perp broke the rear window of a car and searched it for various goods at Seventh Avenue and 60th Street, on Friday, February 5 at 3:55 a.m. — an action that was witnessed by a bystander who called the police . When officers arrived, the car owner — who was notified of the break-in — noticed that the only thing that had been taken was loose change. Cops tracked down and arrested a suspect, who had a screwdriver and glass fragments from the car window in his pocket. Damage to the car was approximately $250.

On Wednesday, February 3 at approximately 3:46 a.m., a 44-year-old Hispanic man got off the train and was headed to his home near Fourth Avenue and 54th Street when cops say, a 20-year-old Hispanic man approached the victim from behind and put a knife to his neck. He then took $600 from the man before fleeing the scene

A 44-year old Asian woman was assaulted inside a bar on Third Avenue and 39th Street on Tuesday, February 9 at 4 a.m. Police say that the victim was struck in the back of the head with a glass beer bottle by another Asian female, resulting in cuts and bumps. She was treated at NYU Lutheran Medical Center. A suspect was arrested on assault charges.

A 36-year-old white man was walking near Fifth Avenue and 52nd Street on Monday, February 8 at approximately 10 p.m. when cops say a perp, armed with a steak knife, cut the left side of the victim’s head, resulting in a five inch gash. The victim was subsequently driven to Maimonides Medical Center by his girlfriend for treatment.

Police say that a 42-year-old Asian man parked his car near 42nd street and Eighth Avenue on Monday, February 8. When he returned to the vehicle, he realized it had been broken into by an unknown perp who stole a wallet containing several of the victim’s credit cards as well as his Social Security card.

No arrests have been made.
