Cops are looking to identify the man they say fired a gun in a fleeing man’s direction inside a Sunset Park apartment building last September, in the confines of the 72nd Precinct.

According to police, on Thursday, September 3, a man — described only by authorities as Hispanic — confronted a 25-year-old man inside the lobby of 5214 Sixth Avenue at around 1 a.m. After a brief struggle, the victim ran back into the apartment, prompting the suspect to fire one round in his direction, striking no one.

The suspect then fled on foot.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto Crime Stoppers’ website at or by texting their tips to CRIMES (274637), then entering TIP577.

All calls are strictly confidential.
