72nd Precinct Police Beat: Perp attempts to steal packages from apartment on Chirstmas Eve

Between Tuesday, December 22 and Thursday, December 24, the 72nd Precinct received reports of two attempted burglaries. The 72nd Precinct serves Sunset Park, Greenwood Heights and South Park Slope.


Cops say that, on Tuesday, December 22, two perps broke the door open to the common area of an apartment building on 81 Ocean Parkway, broke the locks to the bike rack and then stole one bike. The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. One of the two perps, a 52-year-old black man, was arrested on Saturday, December 26 in connection to the burglary after committing a similar crime nearby.


According to police, a 51-year-old black man was seen stealing packages on Thursday, December 24 after trespassing in an apartment building near 81 Ocean Parkway at approximately 10:45 a.m. The perp stole several packages belonging to a 54-year-old man who lived in the apartment.

He was later arrested on burglary charges.
