On Friday, December 4, the U.S. Army Garrison at Fort Hamilton hosted its Annual Tree Lighting Spectacular. While the spirited event lasted from 4 to 9 p.m. the lighting of the tree took place at 5:30 p.m. However, this year there was the added attraction of a Holiday Market.

The event was meant to showcase a festive feel as the Holiday Market took on a German theme with over 40 vendors, traditional food and fun family activities including a visit from Santa on his sleigh, as well as carousel rides. The children of the local Narrows Community Theater, garbed in costumes of green and red, also entertained the crowd as they sang Christmas carols.

The base was full of excited people, said Fort Hamilton Spokesperson Bruce Hill, who said there was a “pretty good turnout and [the event] went well.”
