Between Monday, November 23 and Thursday, November 26, the 72nd Precinct received reports of one attempted robbery, two robberies and one burglary. The 72nd Precinct serves Sunset Park, Greenwood Heights and South Park Slope.

ROB AND RUN

Police say that on Tuesday, November 24 at approximately 1:10 a.m., a 19-year-old Asian man was robbed while walking home from a fast food restaurant.

As he approached the corner of Fifth Avenue and 53rd Street, police say, the victim heard someone sneaking up from behind. When he turned, he saw an unknown perp with a gray jacket and white jeans snatching his wallet — which contained money and a credit card — from his back right pocket.

The perp then ran to a sedan where a second perp was behind the wheel. When the victim tried to get his wallet back, the second perp got out of the driver’s seat, and choked and punched him before getting back in the car and fleeing the scene.

STONE COLD THIEF

On Tuesday, November 24 sometime between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m., cops say an unknown perp broke into the apartment of a 66-year-old woman near 39th Street between Fourth and Fifth Avenues through a rear unlocked window near a fire escape, stealing blue sapphire Swarovski stones.

One tenant said he saw a suspicious male knocking on the victim’s door then saying that he had the wrong apartment number.

No arrests have been made.

THREE THIEVES

A 40-year-old Asian man was robbed near Eighth Avenue and 48th Street while walking home from his friend’s house on Monday, November 23 at approximately 2:53 a.m. Cops say the victim was approached from behind by three unknown Hispanics who punched him in the face, causing him to fall to the ground, and stole his iPhone, money and credit cards. The victim attempted to recover his property before the three perps fled towards 50th street.

No arrests have been made.

CAUGHT RED HANDED

According to police, a 32-year-old Hispanic man was robbed on Thursday, November 26 while walking near Fifth Avenue and 39th Street at approximately 1:45 a.m. At the corner, a 24-year-old male Hispanic approached the victim and demanded that he give him everything he had. He then made the victim fall to his knees before punching him in the face and taking his money. He then fled the scene.

He was later caught and arrested by cops.
