Two Brooklyn men convicted in murder of 16-month-old boy
Two Brooklyn men were convicted on Thursday, July 16 in connection with the 2013 murder of a 16-month-old boy who was shot while being pushed in a stroller by his father.
“The tragic death of this innocent baby is an example of the devastation gun violence can wreck on our communities,” District Attorney Ken Thompson said. “These defendants showed utter disregard for human life and we will be asking that each of them receives the maximum sentence.”
According to trial testimony, sometime around 7:20 p.m. on September 1, 2013, Daquan Wright, 21, handed a firearm to 25-year-old Daquan Breland, who then fired several shots in the direction of Anthony Hennis – the young boy’s father – who was pushing a stroller at the intersection of Bristol Street and Livonia Avenue, and was said to be a rival of Breland’s.
