Former Con Ed-cop impersonator sentenced to prison
Warren Taylor, 35, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for forcing a woman to engage in sexual activity in 2012 by impersonating a police officer and threatening her with arrest if she refused, announced District Attorney Ken Thompson on Thursday, July 9.
According to trial testimony, Taylor approached the victim – who worked as a prostitute – on Vermont Street in East New York in January, 2012 and invited the woman into his car. After driving to a nearby location, Taylor ordered the victim out of the car where he handcuffed and frisked her before threatening arrest if she fled.
Taylor is said to have used his Con Ed-issued handheld radio to trick the woman into believing he was a cop.
