‘Make It in Brooklyn’ summit highlights borough’s growth
Brings Together Hundreds of Borough’s Leading Innovators

The inaugural Make It in Brooklyn Innovation Summit — an event that explored the borough’s development — was held June 25 at locations throughout the Brooklyn Cultural District.
The summit brought together 300 of Brooklyn’s leading innovators, makers, builders and entrepreneurs to explore how Brooklyn can continue its ascent as an international center for commerce and culture. Most of the events took place at the Theatre for a New Audience’s Polonsky Shakespeare Center, 262 Ashland Pl.
Discussion topics included real estate, the arts, tech innovation, restaurant management and the future of manufacturing in the borough. The event culminated with a pitch contest, where Brooklyn startups pitched their best ideas to a panel of industry leaders with $50,000 in seed funding on the line.
Alicia Glen, New York City deputy mayor for housing and economic development, delivered the opening remarks.
