Staten Island SBDC to host social media seminar in Brooklyn

Get ready for the digital age.

A seminar hosted by the Staten Island Small Business Development Center (SI SBDC), a full-time resource center that offers free technical assistance to small-business owners, is coming to Brooklyn. The event, “Social Media and Marketing; Facebook and More,” will be held on Thursday, March 26 from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Pearl Room, 8201 Third Avenue.

The seminar will feature several business professionals with various backgrounds, including Charlie Conard, co-founder of Social Go To, a Manhattan-based consulting firm; Phil Guarnieri, president and co-CEO of Empire State Bank; and Dean Balsamini, director of the SI SBDC.

During the event, Conard will discuss practices for building a business and brand online through Facebook, and other social media outlets. Guarnieri will speak about Empire State Bank’s newly opened branch, located at 8701 Third Avenue, as well as discuss services such as small business lending, while Balsamini will provide an overview of the present business environment in Brooklyn and Staten Island, and the most common hurdles facing local small businesses.
