P.S. 29 in Carroll Gardens was awarded the Eco-Schools USA Green Flag on Friday, February 27 for its achievements in conserving natural resources, greening the school grounds and integrating environmental education into the curriculum.

To win the award, students and faculty developed action plans for three Eco-Schools program pathways – energy, school grounds, and consumption and waste – chosen by the school to qualify.

These steps led to reduced energy use (and cost savings), the creation of a food and pollinator garden, and the establishment of a school-wide recycling and waste reduction program.

To celebrate, students were visited by citywide elected officials and National Wildlife Federation mascot Ranger Rick.

P.S. 29 is located at 425 Henry Street.
