Legendary dance music icon and 10-time Grammy winner Chaka Khan will open the 37th annual Celebrate Brooklyn! Performing Arts Festival with a free concert on Wednesday, June 3 at the Prospect Park Bandshell.

Chaka Khan, who first came to prominence with the Chicago rock and funk band Rufus in the 1970s, released her debut solo album in 1978. All in all, she has racked up 10 Number One Billboard-charted songs, eight RIAA-certified gold singles and 11 RIAA-certified gold and platinum albums. She has received numerous awards and has appeared on songs by other artists including Ray Charles, Barry White, Peter Cetera and others.

Celebrate Brooklyn! has been presenting concerts in Prospect Park since 1979 and was an early anchor in Brooklyn’s renaissance. The concert series is presented by BRIC.
