Bay Ridge Cares to hold fundraiser for cancer patients
Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is coming to a close, but a group of activists in Bay Ridge is working to make sure September goes out with a bang. Bay Ridge Cares, a non-profit organization that assists families in need, will host a party on Sept. 27 to raise money for the families of children with cancer.
A portion of the funds will be donated to the World Go Gold fund at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
The fundraiser will take place at Saint Patrick Church auditorium on Fourth Avenue and 97th Street from 2 to 5 p.m., immediately after the 48th Annual Ragamuffin Parade in Bay Ridge. The fundraiser is being billed as Bay Ridge Cares’ Second Annual Post-Parade Party. Last year, the group held a party after the parade to raise funds for the Kabel family, whose young daughter Sally Kabel is battling cancer.
