Renowned writer David Sedaris to speak in Cobble Hill
David Sedaris, one of today’s most influential writers, is coming to Brooklyn to discuss his latest collection, “Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls” (Back Bay Books), on-sale in paperback June 3. Sedaris —the acclaimed author of numerous #1 New York Times bestsellers, including “Me Talk Pretty One Day” and “Naked” — will appear in Brooklyn on June 5 to discuss his recent work at BookCourt in Cobble Hill.
In “Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls,” Sedaris, like in his previous collections, ruminates on his own life to tell hilarious yet thoughtful stories that resonate because of their frank tone and intimate subject matter. He recalls growing up in 1960s Raleigh, North Carolina, as a secretly gay child, remembering how his insecurities dictated his demeanor — and, rather seamlessly, weaves these memories into his adult life. Sedaris’s observations are bizarre but on point and he’s not afraid to reveal the awkward, unglamorous side of humanity.
The June 5 event will begin at 7 p.m. BookCourt is located at 163 Court St. in Cobble Hill.
