Bienvenidos a Bushwick, hipsters.

Don’t miss out on the coolest places in the neighborhood, the Hispanic places.

Don’t get us wrong. We like non-Hispanic spots like Variety Cafe – the new coffee shop at 146 Wyckoff Ave. with a wonderful, old-fashioned sign for Wyckoff Paints on the outside of the building – just as much as the next caffeine freak.

But Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, Mexicans, Ecuadorians, Colombians et al. were residents and business owners in Brooklyn’s hipster-magnet neighborhood long before you were. Why not partake of the sabor latino that makes your neighborhood special? Otherwise, you might as well be on Billyburg’s Bedford Avenue.

Here’s a tip sheet to make things easy for you. It doesn’t include any of Bushwick’s numerous Mexican restaurants because every American past the age of 5 knows what a taco is.

We also left Kikiriki Vivero, a live poultry market at 334 Linden St., off the list – because you must know what you’re doing when you cook slaughtered-while-you-wait fowl. Teaching you the right recipes is too complicated a task for us.

Also, a thank you to cellphone store Myrtle Multi-Service at 1464 Myrtle Ave. The gentlemen who work there will graciously charge your dying phone, for free. This is helpful if you don’t want to go home to revv up your battery. A lot of neighborhood restaurants don’t have electrical outlets by their tables. The Myrtle Avenue Dunkin’ Donuts does. But really – how many times in a day can you politely return for a small coffee and hog the electrical socket?
