Prospect Park Alliance launches youth volunteer corps to encourage park stewardship
March is here and that means spring and all the outdoor activities that come with it are only around three short weeks away. This year, among the offerings will be the Prospect Park Alliance’s JuniorĀ Volunteer Corps, beginning March 30.
Designed to “encourage young Brooklynites to make a meaningful impact in their community,” the new series of weekend volunteer outings will have elementary-aged groups and their families help with spring cleaning in their favorite major local park.
“We hope that by encouraging park stewardship to children at a young age, they will grow up understanding the importance of volunteering in their community and will continue to do so for many years,” said Eric Landau, vice president of government and external affairs at the Prospect Park Alliance.
