Sexy undies? Park Slope mommies say no thanks

So much disposable income in Park Slope, and so many young women to spend it. So why is Enelra Lingerie going out of business? Don’t Slopers buy sexy underwear?

“Are you kidding?” said Eve Perez, the manager of the store at 140 Fifth Ave.

“That’s why they’re getting divorced. It’s just becoming Mommy and the kids. How can you forget you have a husband and a home?”

The shop has racks of lace-covered chemises, beautiful bra and panty sets, corsets – eye candy reflecting the tastes of a business owner who had an East Village shop before moving to the Slope nine years ago.

But in hopes of drawing shoppers inside the Fifth Avenue store, a mannequin in the front window was garbed in a long-sleeved pajama top and full-length pajama pants.

Rising rents on Fifth Avenue put a damper on the shop owner’s enthusiasm.

“All the realtors are telling property owners, ‘You need to boost your rents,’” Perez said.

A going-out-of-business sale will go on until March. Then Enelra will be gone – adding a vacant storefront to the Park Slope Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District.

Is the shop owner planning to move somewhere else? Nah.

“We’re done,” Perez said. “She just doesn’t want to do it again.”
