I was dating a guy for nine months and we broke up. At work, I just found out that a new person is joining my department. Its my ex-boyfriend. Any advice on how to handle this?

Dear Debbie,

First, I would like to know if you still have feelings for him. If so then take this advice. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

Not that he is an enemy, but you attract more bees with honey. So be nice and polite, and if the feelings you have for him bother you, have as little interaction with him as possible. Stay professional. In a work environment make it business as usual and not personal.

Dont discuss your personal relationship with him with anyone at work. If you hear from someone that he brought it up, dont react; just say it didnt work out between us. If you don’t have feelings for him, then business as usual it is. Make sure you stick to that rule and you will be fine.
