Boy survives fall into uncovered manhole in Boro Park
On January 14, a 10-year-old boy was saved after falling down an open manhole at 49th street and 13th Avenue. The accident occurred around 8:30 a.m.
State Senator Simcha Felder commended the Fire and Police Departments, as well as Boro Park Hatzoloh, for their quick and heroic action. “As a community, we all owe a great debt of gratitude to the brave heroes who risk life and limb each day to save others,” he said. “I am immensely thankful to the NYPD, the FDNY, and Boro Park Hatzoloh for their swift and lifesaving responses today and every day.”
In addition, Verizon employees were near the manhole when the child fell. They lowered a ladder to the boy, which helped authorities rescue him.
