The Friends of the Brooklyn Heights Branch Library will hold its 20th Anniversary Gala Fundraiser to raise funds for the collection on Monday, Oct. 21. The Gala will honor Evan Hughes, the Brooklyn-based author of “Literary Brooklyn,” which explores the borough’s development through the eyes of some of its greatest writers. There will be a short performance by local jazz pianist, Pat Wallace, as well as a talk led by Mr. Hughes in the auditorium, followed by a reception with drinks, hors d’oeuvres, a local student playing chamber music and a book signing.
In an interview with the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, Hughes shared his motivations for writing “Literary Brooklyn” and offered his thoughts on writing in Brooklyn today.
