The race for Brooklyn District Attorney has gone from a three-way race to a two-way contest. Abe George has dropped out of the race leaving incumbent Charles “Joe” Hynes and challenger Kenneth Thompson on the September ballot.

Abe George, on Friday, officially ended his campaign and announced his support for Thompson. “I am thrilled to have the support of Abe George, a true leader who has made a real difference in this campaign,” Thompson said. I look forward to working side by side with Abe to bring new leadership to the Brooklyn D.A.’s office.”

“This is Tammany-Style clandestine-dealing at its worst,” said Hynes’ campaign spokesperson. The question is: What did Thompson promise George to persuade him to drop out at the 11th hour? This cynical ploy doesn’t pass the smell test.”
