72nd Precinct

Between Monday, June 17 and Monday, June 24, the 72nd Precinct received reports of three assaults, two auto thefts, one incident of criminal trespass and one grand larceny. The 72nd Precinct serves Sunset Park, Greenwood Heights, South Park Slope and Windsor Terrace.

SCRATCH THAT

Police arrested a 24-year-old white female on Sunday, June 16 at 11:30 p.m., for allegedly assaulting a 23-year-old white Hispanic female inside an apartment on 40th Street near Eighth Avenue.

The victim was reportedly trying to prevent the perp from hitting her mother, when she went after her instead, kicking her in the head and body. The victim refused medical attention but suffered from scratch marks all over her body and a bruise on her left arm.

DOUBLE TROUBLE

A 36-year-old black male was arrested on Monday, June 17 at 5:10 p.m., for allegedly assaulting a male on the corner of Third Avenue and 40th Street.

The victim told police that the perp approached him while he was sitting in his double-parked car. He began punching him through the open window of the car in the face and chest, causing pain and scratching. The perp fled in his car, but was later positively identified during a canvass.

PUNCHY PUNK

Police arrested a 17-year-old white male on Tuesday, June 18 at 2:55 a.m. for allegedly assaulting a 25-year-old Asian male on the corner of Sixth Avenue and 61st Street.

The victim was walking with friends when the perp started to argue with someone in the group. The perp punched the victim in the nose, causing bleeding.

NO VACANCY

On Tuesday, June 18 at 2:35 p.m., a 33-year-old white Hispanic male tried to enter a hotel located on 39th Street near Fifth Avenue and refused to leave when asked. An employee told police that the perp had no permission to be on the premises and was walking through floors, trying to gain access to the basement. He was arrested.

CHECK CHUMP

On Tuesday, June 18 at 6:30 p.m., a 21-year-old black male entered a cash checking business located on Fourth Avenue near 24th Street and attempted to cash to fake checks using false identification. He was arrested.
