P.S. 185 crowned citywide clean up champs
Bay Ridge’s own P.S. 185, the Walter Kassenbrock School, has been awarded the highest honor in the 2012 Golden Apple Awards presented by the New York City Department of Sanitation Bureau of Waste Prevention, Reuse and Recycling.
A total of $7,000 in prizes were awarded to the Brooklyn school, which managed to snag the title of Citywide and Borough winner of the Team Up to Clean Up challenge.
Also recipients of the Brooklyn Golden Shovel Award for Master School Composter, the students of P.S. 185 took to the auditorium to celebrate their achievements alongside teachers, parents from the Go Green Committee, DOS professionals and Councilmember Vincent Gentile.
