Christine Quinn officially launches mayoral campaign
NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn officially announced her intention to run for mayor of New York City this year, following Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s impending exit.
“I am running for mayor of the City of New York because I love this city. It’s the greatest place in the world [and] the place my grandparents came to from Ireland because they heard magical things could happen — that a family could make their way out of poverty and into the middle class,” she said in her official launch video. “I want to work every day I’m mayor to keep this city and make it more of that place.”
To that end, Quinn has also launched a Walk and Talk Tour through the five boroughs, during which she will meet and greet with residents about “what’s going on in their homes and lives to make sure the issues I work on are the issues they focus on.”
