The Kings County Supreme Court awarded its December 2012 Employee of the Year award to Consolata Bajohr, secretary to Hon. Mark Partnow.

“Connie is a very warm and very friendly person, said Inga O’Neale, Esq., Hon. Larry Martin’s law clerk.  “I have been working in the building for 10 years, and before I knew Connie well enough to speak to her, she would always greet me with a warm smile and a ‘hello.’ To meet her once is to feel as though you have known her for years,” O’Neale continued.

This sentiment was echoed by those who have known Bajohr for a long period of time.  “I’ve known Connie since our kids were in first grade together,” said Isabella Carbone, secretary to Hon. Marsha L. Steinhardt. “Our children went to school together in Carroll Gardens and all the years that I’ve known her, she has a big heart and would do anything to help anyone.

“Professionally she’s a very good secretary.  And in and out of the courthouse, Connie goes over and above,” Carbone said.

Bajohr’s son, Paul Bajohr Jr., was present to share this moment with his mother. Civil service is a pattern in the Bajohr household — Bajohr Jr., is currently serving as a court officer in Manhattan State Supreme Court.

Justice Partnow presented Bajohr with a plaque commemorating her work as a law secretary.  “Connie has been my secretary for the past 10 years, ever since I became a Supreme Court justice,” Hon. Partnow said. “She is smart, competent and always eager to take on the day. I have sat in some of this court’s busy parts and Connie’s presence just makes everything work that much more smoothly.

“My chambers and courtroom staff has always functioned as a family, with Connie as the matricarch,” Hon. Partnow said. “Each and every person in the Brooklyn Supreme Court treats her as a friend and the feeling is mutual.”

In addition to the kind words from Hon. Partnow, Hon. Betsy Barros and Hon. Barry Kamins also spoke about the dedication and service that Bajohr provides to those with cases in front of Justice Partnow as well as her colleagues.

Justices and court staff alike had nothing but kind words to describe Bajohr.  As Dawn Sajecki, secretary to Hon. Donald Kurtz, noted, “Connie is a blessing and an amazing person. She deserved the award. I just cannot stop staying enough about how amazing Connie is.”
