Focus on the marketplace: Third Avenue ready for Ragamuffin, Festival & Pioneers!

The Merchants of Third Avenue gathered Monday for their regular, packed meeting at the Greenhouse Restaurant to make last-minute preparations for the fabled Ragamuffin Parade Saturday, the Sunday Third Avenue Festival and the Pioneers 19th Annual Reception set for Oct. 29.

Shown at the Greenhouse Cafe event, hosted by Bob Daquara and John Keegan, are:

President Bob Howe, center, presided over the meeting with the aid of Recording Secretary Leigh Holliday (The Art Room) at left and Vice President Wade Jabour (Jabour Realty), right. Standing, left to right, are Chuck Otey, secretary; Lloyd Berg (Verrazano Vision) and Bina Valenzano (Bookmark Shoppe), who headed the very successful Summer Stroll program that brought thousands to Third Avenue on Friday nights during the summer.

Bay Ridge Eagle Executive and Pioneer Reception Restaurant Wrangler Marc Hibsher, second from right, explained how thirty or more Third Avenue restaurants will again provide fine gourmet selections contributing to the success of the Oct. 29 Pioneer Reception at Cafe Remy. Others are Sean Flynn, far right;  Vice President. Wade Jabour and Courtney Sessa Flynn.

Yellow Hook Grill restaurant was well represented by proprietors Steve Jackson (far left) and Robert Long (far right), who joined columnist Larry Morrish and Verena Otey to take part in the evening's busy agenda, which included future Summer Strolls and an organized effort to bring additional, private sanitation clean-ups to portions of Third Avenue.

Dennis Monier, owner of Tops Restaurant Supplies, with host Bob Daquara of Greenhouse Cafe, who provided a delicious array of food and soft drinks.
