Brooklyn Today: August 9, 2012
Good morning. Today is the 222nd day of the year. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle for Aug. 9, 1902, had a headline reading “Kings [County] Solid for Nixon if He Chooses To Run.” That Eagle writer wasn’t a psychic, as some might think — the “Nixon” the paper was referring to was Lewis Nixon, a Democratic hopeful for governor.
Well-known people who were born today include musician Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, Brooklyn-born boxer Riddick Bowe, actress Angie Harmon (“Law & Order”) and actor Antonio Banderas.
