This Thursday night, borough book lovers can join debut novelist Karen Thompson Walker at Fort Greene’s Greenlight Bookstore to celebrate the release of “The Age of Miracles.” Over the next several weeks, the Park Slope writer will be touring the country to promote her book.

Already receiving high praise, Walker’s novel infuses the coming-of-age tale with an apocalyptic drift: Her characters wake up one day to realize that the rotation of the earth has begun to slow down, gradually stretching the days and nights, and threatening life on the planet.

We are excited to hear that Walker takes pride in her Brooklyn residency; in fact, she has reported that she rarely leaves her neighborhood on a Sunday. The former Simon & Schuster editor now writes full-time from her home in Park Slope.

Brooklynites will have several chances to meet Walker and show support as three of her book-signings will take place in Brooklyn! After this Thursday’s launch party, Walker will again appear in Brooklyn on Friday, July 13, at BookCourt in Cobble Hill, and then again on Tuesday, July 31, at the powerHouse Arena in DUMBO.
