In the end, there wasn't much of a contest in either of Brooklyn's closely watched Democratic Congressional primaries.

Incumbent Rep. Nydia Velazquez crushed a challenge inspired by the leader of the Kings County Democratic Party, far outdistancing four rivals in the 7th Congressional District. She ended the night with approximately 58 percent of the vote.

In the 8th CD, Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries defeated City Councilman Charles Barron by an even wider margin —  about 72 percent — in a race that turned on Barron's loudly voiced anti-Israel and anti-gay views.

Soon after the polls closed, NY1 reported that a member of the Jeffries campaign team said of Barron, "We're killing him."
