Five student and three adult shutterbugs have taken home awards in the annual Bay Ridge Community Council (BRCC) photo contest.

The winners of the competition — sponsored this year by The Home Reporter and Brooklyn Spectator — were announced at BRCC’s March 27 meeting at the Knights of Columbus, 13th Avenue and 86th Street.

The student winners are Erika Andrea Carrion, a fifth grader at P.S. 112 and Isabella Huang, a fifth grader at P.S. 102, who tied for the bronze level award; Taylor Gaudio, a fifth grader at P.S. 204 and Celine Yan, a seventh grader, who tied for the silver level award; and Nicholas Constantinesco, a seventh grader at Genesis at Xaverian, who snagged the gold level prize with a dramatic photo of a long-legged bird on Captiva Island, Florida.

The adult winners are Thomas Bata, who received the bronze award; Rosa Giammarino, who took the silver level award; and Michael Festa, who was the gold award winner for a moody shot of a rowboat in an Irish lough.

“The Bay Ridge Community Council is very happy to once again bring the neighborhood the photo contest,” noted group President Alexander Conti. “We are very thankful that The Home Reporter and Spectator decided to sponsor the event. I want to thank all the participants and congratulate the winners.”

“We are so proud of the work and participation of the community in the contest,” noted Home Reporter and Brooklyn Spectator Co-Publisher Victoria Schneps-Yunis. “It’s our pleasure to promote the good work of so many residents.”

Each of the winners took home a Century 21 gift card ($75 for gold winners, $50 for silver, and $25 for bronze). In addition, all of the photographs can be seen in this paper’s pages.

The contest has been held for over two decades. This year, 28 adults and 68 students submitted photos.
