Xaverian High School senior Sean Binckes made a life-changing decision on Wednesday, Feb. 1, when he committed to play his college football at C.W. Post.

The 6-foot-4 tight end hauled in 16 receptions for 288 yards during the regular season for the Clippers, playing a key role in the team’s advancement to the CHSFL Class AAA semifinals, a game they ultimately lost in overtime at Archbishop Stepinac. Binckes emerged as an effective red zone threat and led the team with five receiving touchdowns during the season.

Binckes said that although he did draw interest from several Division I schools, a visit to Post convinced him that he could benefit from the environment and the chance to play right away.

He will take the field next season along with several other notable  players, including Keith Mittenzwei of Monsignor Farrell, Shane Hubbard of John Adams, Dylin Lewis of Poly Prep and Keyon Barnwell and Kareem Folkes of Lincoln.

News for those who live, work and play in Brooklyn and beyond

Binckes, a lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers, is also an honor student at Xaverian.
