A New Judge on Livingston Street
After Winning Democratic Primary and General Election, Hon. Sharen Hudson Is Sworn Into Kings County Civil Court
Kings County Supreme Court Justice Marsha Steinhardt administered the oath of office to Hudson, with Hudson’s parents and daughter Shelby at her side. Shelby summed up the results of the Democratic primary race, which Hudson won by defeating an incumbent judge and winning 62 percent of the vote —“I’m an athlete, and we athletes talk a lot about medals. My mother isn’t bronze. She isn’t silver. She’s gold.”
A packed crowd gathered at Medgar Evers College last week in Bedford-Stuyvesant to support Hudson, including judges, lawyers, friends, politicians and pastors. One coworker noted that, even as a clerk, “she was careful with the downtrodden.”
