A 19-year-old man leapt to his death Tuesday morning from the Brooklyn Bridge during morning rush hour traffic, the New York Post reports.

A witness saw the man put leave his jacket on a bench and climb the tower. He jumped about 30 minutes later and landed near the River Café.

The DNAinfo blog’s photos show firefighters climbing the bridge’s support cables in an unsuccessful attempt to rescue the youth.
