No recent issue has gripped Brooklyn Heights more than the upcoming reconstruction of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. DOT’s preferred plan would temporarily replace the Heights Promenade with a six-lane highway during repairs. The Brooklyn Heights Association has worked with Heights-based Marc Wouters Studios to come up with an alternative design. The Brooklyn Heights Press spoke with Wouters in depth about the plan. 1. It’s a little obnoxious that none of these glowing articles about the BHA’s genius plan reference how it would impact the 4 apt buildings on Furman Street. We live in Brooklyn Heights too… and it looks like the new highway is running directly into 360 Furman in the BHA’s rendering 🙄

    1. Actually, the BHA plan shown in this article is vastly superior for 360 Furman. It leaves the highway in its current footprint until its north of your building. The DOT’s plan has the highway climb up and widen out to six lanes directly next to your building. They want to run the highway within a few feet of your facade and high enough to be directly outside residential windows. :-/
