EAST NEW YORK — A HOMEOWNERS’ FORUM AND RESOURCE FAIR will take place on Saturday, June 13, to provide first-time buyers, current owners, seniors and veterans with legal and financial information.
Several lawmakers who represent eastern Brooklyn on the city, state and national level are partnering with IMPACCT Brooklyn to present the forum, with the goal of helping residents and landlords of smaller buildings empower, protect and preserve their buildings, homeowner rights and to build generational equity.
Council Deputy Leader Chris Banks, Assemblymember Nikki Lucas, State Sen. Roxanne J. Persaud and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries have teamed up with nonprofit IMPACCT Brooklyn and other sponsoring organizations, which include the city Departments of Buildings and of Finance.
The forum, which runs from 10 a.m. to noon at Church of God East New York, will give attendees access to legal aid and financial counseling resources; city, state and federal housing assistance programs; information on navigating property tax exemptions; repair assistance resources; and more.
Established in 1964, IMPACCT Brooklyn assists homeowners, tenants and small businesses around the borough.
