MANHATTAN – THE U.K.’S KING CHARLES and Queen Camilla are set to attend a memorial service at the 9/11 Memorial at the World Trade Center on Wednesday morning, marking the upcoming 25th anniversary of the attacks, reports Reuters.
The couple will lay a wreath in memory of the 2,606 victims, who included 67 British nationals, and will meet with survivors, first responders and victims’ families. Mayor Zohran Mamdani confirmed on Friday that he would be at the ceremony, along with several other elected officials.
Later on Wednesday, Camilla will head to the New York Public Library to mark the 100th anniversary of children’s classic “Winnie-the-Pooh,” while Charles will meet with a community anti-hunger organization, as well as with business leaders.
The king and queen landed in Washington on Monday and met with President Donald Trump. Charles is set to deliver an address to Congress on Tuesday – the second by a British monarch, after a speech by Queen Elizabeth II in 1991. On Thursday, the pair will travel to Virginia to tour a national park and celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday before departing for Bermuda, a British overseas territory.
