GRAVESEND — ASSEMBLYMEMBER WILLIAM COLTON CONTINUES HIS ANNUAL HALLOWEEN TRADITION, and will give trick-or-treaters some extra readable treats in their goodie bags.
The holiday giveaway will take place Friday, Oct. 31 from 2:30-5:30 p.m., outside Colton’s office at 155 Kings Highway. Children who stop by will receive goodie bags that include a selection of treats, including candy that two not-for-profit organizations, Chinese American Social Services and UA3, have donated. Puzzles and safety information are also part of the goodie bags.
Moreover, in conjunction with the book drive that Colton has been spearheading with City Councilmember Susan Zhuang, children will have the opportunity to select free books that interest them. “I really hope that the kids who visit my office take the opportunity to choose a book that intrigues them,” said Colton, a former teacher. “Candy is quickly eaten, but the joy of reading is a lifelong pleasure.”
Councilmember Zhuang is also hosting a Halloween Spooktacular, outside her office, 6514 20th Ave., Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., to enjoy treats, face-painting and pumpkins.
