BOROUGH PARK — DR. PATRICK BORGEN of Maimonides Medical Center is one of 14 oncologists in the United States to be inducted as a 2026 Giant of Cancer Care by OncLive. He is one of 14 oncology leaders recognized this year for their contributions to improvements in outcomes for cancer patients. He is one of 120 physicians elected to date. This professional association’s peer-nominated award, established in 2011, honors doctors for innovative treatment within the field of oncology.
Borgen is chair of surgery, chief and founder of Maimonides’ Breast Cancer Center, the borough’s first and only fully-accredited breast cancer care center and the first Brooklyn-based program designated an American College of Radiology Center of Excellence in multiple areas of breast cancer screening. He is also president of the Maimonides Research and Development Foundation, where he oversees institutional research strategies and grant funding, including dozens of active surgical and breast oncology research projects.
Borgen has led the Breast Cancer Center into one of the largest volume facilities in the Northeast, treating more than 8,000 patients to date. His community outreach spans initiatives such as Maimonides Cancer Center’s annual Cancer Survivors Day celebration, which took place Monday.
