Some of Brooklyn’s most popular restaurants are on board to participate in The Good Night Out, on October 29, a fundraiser for CHiPS, Christian Help in Park Slope, a soup kitchen and residence for young mothers in Park Slope.
CHiPS have been dedicated to helping the poor need and the homeless since 1971.
CHiPS are able to feed each daily guest for about $1.75 a meal and to house and feed a mom and child for only $350 a month.
“This is our first ever fundraising event and we are excited and grateful for the enthusiastic support of so many local restaurants” said Denise Scaravella, CHiPS Executive Director.
Participating restaurants will display window posters promoting the event. Participating restaurants have agreed to donate 15 percent of their proceeds from diner’ checks to the non-profit, charitable organization.
CHiPS soup kitchen feeds 93,000 nutritious meals a years and its upstairs shelter, The Frances Residence houses and counsels nine young women in their last trimester of their pregnancy as well as women who have just given birth to provide a stable foundation for them to adjust to motherhood. CHiPS food kitchen is located on Fourth Avenue between Sackett and Degraw Streets.
