CITYWIDE — THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK and the FDNY Foundation unveiled the 2027 Calendar of Heroes on Wednesday, featuring 25 super-fit firefighters, Emergency Medical Technicians and paramedics. Fans lined up at the FDNY Fire Zone on West 48th Street in Manhattan to meet the hunks and hunkettes from firehouses around the city, and get their calendars autographed.
At just $25, proceeds from the iconic calendars, which come in both male and female versions, benefit the FDNY Foundation’s mission of financing fire and life safety education, training initiatives and lifesaving resources for the FDNY, while giving supporters “an opportunity to connect with the people behind the uniform,” Jean O’Shea, executive director of the FDNY Foundation said in a release.
Fire Commissioner Bonsignore noted the release marks the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11 and honors “the legacy of those who came before us while celebrating the firefighters, EMTs and paramedics who continue to serve New York City every day.” The calendar is available at FDNYShop.com.

SUNSET PARK — “As a resident of Marine Park, one of the great surprises I found biking around Industry City and visiting Japan Village was to discover Bush Terminal Park. I continue to be amazed at the serene hideaways that the city offers in some of the busiest places — and, still, with an iconic view.”

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — ‘A miracle that no one was killed …’ That’s what neighbors are saying about the collapse of the Hotel St. George marquee. ATLANTIC AVENUE — Exhausted shopper with cluster of bags and goods from mall at Boerum Place stops to look at huge construction site across the street. “Is that REALLY going to be a jail??” Her male companion is reassuring, “Nothing like Rikers … this is 21st Century.”
BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — Overheard in line at one of most popular pastry outlets on Montague Street: “Hope I can get them into a camp …” A mother with two pre-schoolers in tow was showing a friend the Dodge Y flyer for Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 18.
