CITYWIDE — STATE SEN. ZELLNOR MYRIE officially entered the already-crowded mayoral race on Tuesday, Dec. 3, with the release of his housing plan, “Rebuild NYC: A Mandate for One Million Homes.” Myrie’s plan to build and preserve one million homes prioritizes bold solutions to rectify New York City’s massive housing shortage and costs. The mandate features numerous proposals including rezonings, incentive programs, code reforms and direct tenant and homeowner protections. “Rebuild NYC” articulates priorities including revitalizing NYCHA and its ongoing renovation; reallocating funds used for building shelters to instead construct 50,000 new units of permanent housing for voucher holders; and creating templates for the redevelopment of old public buildings as mixed-use properties, with up to 50,000 new mixed-income housing units above public service facilities like schools and libraries.
Myrie was first inspired to run for State Senate after representing his mother in housing court and is now recognized as one of the most powerful advocates for affordable housing in the state legislature.

SUNSET PARK — “As a resident of Marine Park, one of the great surprises I found biking around Industry City and visiting Japan Village was to discover Bush Terminal Park.
