EAST WILLIAMSBURG – THE NEW PACHA New York club, which succeeds the troubled Brooklyn Mirage, secured a temporary liquor license from the State Liquor Authority on Thursday, over the objections of Community Board 1 and some local residents, BK Magazine reports.
While early on at the hearing complaints were made about the club’s soundchecks and negative experiences with the previous venue, Avant Gardner, the CEO of Pacha’s parent company ultimately won the board’s favor by promising greater accountability, as well as $30 million in funding for community projects. The temporary license will allow the club to serve alcohol on their June 13 opening date, subject to several conditions.
These conditions include restrictions on event type, capacity and timing, as well as a requirement to conduct a public walkthrough on June 8 and several more transparency mandates.
