The device, which appeared to be made from two red canisters with electronics attached, was placed on the steps of the Culture House dispensary, located in the Greenpoint Savings Bank building on Manhattan Avenue, at around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, police said. It was not known who left or reported the fake bomb.
Traffic was briefly stopped on Manhattan Avenue as the Police Department’s Emergency Services Unit responded. The device was determined to be safe, and then taken as part of the ongoing investigation, police said.
