CITYWIDE — BEWARE THE LATEST text-message scam, warns Councilmember Shahana Hanif (D-37). People are getting fraudulent texts advising them they have additional or unpaid charges on parking tickets or camera violations, Hanif said in her Sunday newsletter. The Department of Finance does not text vehicle owners about parking tickets or camera violations. If you receive one, ignore and delete the message, and do not click any links. You can pay valid parking tickets and camera violations on the Department of Finance website or in person.

If you did get scammed, report it to your bank or credit card company.
