CROWN HEIGHTS — A BOERUM HILL WOMAN RIDING an electric stand-up scooter along Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights collided with a dump truck and suffered fatal injuries, according to police. The incident took place on Tuesday just after 11 a.m., when police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision in the vicinity of Franklin Avenue and Pacific Street.
A preliminary investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that the woman, identified as Melba Jordan, 45, was traveling northbound on Franklin when she collided with a 2007 Peterbilt dump truck operated by a 68-year-old man. The truck was traveling southbound on Franklin and making a right turn onto Pacific Street. Emergency Medical Services transported Jordan to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County in critical condition, where she was later pronounced deceased.
The operator of the dump truck remained on scene and was not injured. There are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad.
