Coney Island Brewery opens new and bigger space at MCU Park

Coney Island Brewery opened its doors late last month to an expansion of its four-year-old space at 1904 Surf Ave., built into the Brooklyn Cyclones’ MCU Park. The new venue, which will fit around 150 patrons, is a far cry from the tight quarters of its original, which could only hold a fraction of that.
With indoor and outdoor amenities, the brewery’s general manager, Katherine “Kat” Telesca, said the renovation will better equip the space to serve patrons regardless of the season.
“There is so much residential and commercial development that has happened in the few years since Coney [Island Brewery] opened, it’s been crazy to watch,” she said. “With more businesses going up, it’s going to make us feel less isolated and seasonal. We all know this neighborhood has a lot to offer year-round, and we are excited to be a leading driver of that.”

The expanded brewery features two bars totaling 22 taps and a newly renovated kitchen. The space also features a beautiful mural painted by Brooklyn-native Danielle Mastrion, whose work graces walls at the nearby New York Aquarium, Luna Park and Deno’s Wonder Wheel Park.
At Coney Island Brewery, her mural is a take on the entryway of the original Luna Park, which said “The Heart Of Coney Island” inside.
The mural includes the three classic Coney elements: the Wonder Wheel, Parachute Jump and the Cyclone “but with a new twist in my fantasy land,” she said.
