NEW YORK STATE — NEW YORK ATTORNEY GENERAL Letitia James and a coalition of 33 fellow state attorneys general secured a federal jury verdict on Wednesday that finds Live Nation and its Ticketmaster subsidiary liable for unlawfully monopolizing concert ticketing and the large-amphitheater market, according to a statement from the New York Attorney General’s Office.
The verdict closes a five-week trial that opened March 2. New Yorkers paid roughly $1.72 in surplus fees per ticket, the office said. James called the outcome a “landmark victory in our ongoing work to protect our economy and New Yorkers’ wallets from harmful monopolies.”
The U.S. Department of Justice settled separately mid-trial — a deal the coalition rejected. Brooklyn venues, including Barclays Center and Kings Theatre, route primary sales through Ticketmaster. A bench trial on remedies and financial penalties is scheduled separately.
