NEW JERSEY/LOWER MANHATTAN — THE SIXTH ANNUAL New York City SEAL Swim raised more than $600,000 on Saturday to benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation and its 30 programs that provide critical care and support to active Navy SEALs, veterans and their families. More than 300 participants plunged into the Hudson River as part of the 3.5-mile multi-sport event that began at the Empty Sky Memorial in Liberty State Park in New Jersey and finished in lower Manhattan with a patriotic run to the World Trade Center. The course also included a pushup and pull-up competition against the backdrop of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
Runners held flags as they ran to the World Trade Center in honor of those who lost their lives on 9/11 and in the Extortion 17 attack in Afghanistan, and all who serve the country.
