BROOKLYN — Michael Porter Jr., traded from the Denver Nuggets to the Brooklyn Nets this offseason, has expressed surprise and enthusiasm about his new role, saying, “I’m excited to expand my game,” and adding that he thought he had hit a plateau in Denver. The small forward helped the team win the NBA Championship in 2023, and averaged 19.0 points per game in his 2021-22 peak, according to Basketball Insiders.
The deal saw the Nuggets trade Porter Jr., age 27, and a 2032 first-round pick for the Nets’ Cam Johnson.
