West Midwood man Sentenced to 10 years for Sexual Assault of 13-year-old Girl
On Thursday, Aug. 12, a West Midwood man was sentenced to 10 years for the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl. He was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment by Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Jane Tully. He pleaded guilty to a first-degree criminal sex act on June 1, 2022.
According to the evidence presented at court, around 5:15 p.m. on Oct. 8, 2019, Tony Johnson, 20, of West Midwood, approached the girl from behind as she walked through the Breukelen Houses in Canarsie to pick up her sister at school.
Johnson grabbed the victim’s bag and found no valuables, then threatened to stab her. Johnson forced the victim into the basement of 904 Williams Avenue, where he ordered her to take off her clothing. He then violently sexually assaulted her.
According to the district attorney’s office, Johnson had told the victim to stay in the basement until he left the scene and threatened to hurt her and her family. After Johnson left, the victim went upstairs where a stranger saw her crying and called 911. She was transported to Kings County Hospital where she was treated for her injuries.
